About
Amanda F. Benedict was born in Quincy, Massachusetts. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Law & Society from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1992, and was a member of their NCAA women’s soccer team. Ms. Benedict obtained her Juris Doctor in 1998 from the University of San Diego School of Law.
Ms. Benedict is admitted to practice in California, the United States Federal District Courts (Southern, Central, and Northern Districts of California), the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Benedict is an experienced litigator and appellate advocate. Prior to joining SLB, Ms. Benedict’s litigation practice included both defense and plaintiff representation in a variety of legal matters, including business litigation, premise liability, automobile liability, and indigent criminal appellate representation. At SLB, Ms. Benedict is a member of the Human Services defense litigation team. Ms. Benedict is proud to advocate on behalf of non-profit entities who are committed to selflessly serving persons in need.
As an appellate advocate, Ms. Benedict has represented clients before the California Court of Appeal, the California Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and successfully obtained Cert. review at the United States Supreme Court. She has authored in excess of 300 appellate briefs in a wide range of matters, including human services, maritime, criminal, professional liability, personal injury, and civil rights. Ms. Benedict’s appellate advocacy has been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2011, 2014 – 2023.
Ms. Benedict loves the San Diego outdoors and has successfully completed an Ironman triathlon and several half‑Ironman triathlons. Today, Ms. Benedict remains active mountain biking, running with her dog, and golfing.
